The frenulum is the soft mucous tissue between the gingival tissue and the tongue, lips and cheeks, which binds these tissues to each other and restricts their movements. It is a soft, small tissue that looks like a muscle ligament. When the frenulum, which is also called lip, tongue, cheek ligament, is positioned in a different way than it should normally be, it is corrected by applying a small surgical procedure. And this surgical procedure is called frenectomy surgery.
